Through our programs, Ballet Builders, New Choreographers Workshop and Previews, we were able to give talented emerging ballet choreographers the exposure and the experience they must have to develop their talents and to advance their careers. In the early years Ballet Builders, our choreographers’ showcase, was the only showcase in the ballet world that was open to all choreographers wishing to audition. Those who were not affiliated with a company had an outlet for their talent, and those who were members of a company, but wanted to experiment beyond the artistic limits of that company, could do so.

New Choreographers On Point brought together some of the most promising choreographers and professional dancers from across the United States and Canada. Artists including Sarah Lane and Rasta Thomas had their New York City premieres with Ballet Builders, as did choreographers Septime Webre, now Artistic Director of The Washington Ballet, Stephen Mills, now Artistic Director of Ballet Austin, Paul Vasterling, now Artistic Director of Nashville Ballet and Jamey Leverett, now Artistic Director of Rochester City Ballet.

Throughout these past twenty years we have been able to shine the spotlight on gifted choreographers here in New York City, the dance capital of the world.
