This showcase is devoted solely to ballet works. Ballet Builders 2009 will be presented on Saturday, March 14, at 8:00 P.M. and Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. on the stage of the Dicapo Opera Theater, 184 East 76th Street in New York City. Participation will be based on the evaluations of a panel of ballet professionals. Here is what you need to know: You can audition only one ballet 7 to 15 minutes in length. The ballet must have been created within the past three years, 2006 through 2008. The work auditioned does not need to be en pointé but it must be based in the ballet vocabulary. The work auditioned does not need to be a finished work although, you must audition at least 7 minutes of the work. The work presented in the Showcase must be the work auditioned. If selected, the work may not be presented in the New York metropolitan area for three months prior to and one month following the showcase. No piece may be auditioned twice. If you want to apply, we request the following: A DVD or a videotape of your ballet. If you are submitting a DVD with more than one ballet on it, make sure the one you are auditioning is clearly indicated. If you are submitting a videotape, cue videotape to the beginning of the ballet you are auditioning. A filled out Facts Sheet. Your resume A self-addressed stamped (not metered) envelope, if you wish your video or DVD returned. Do not put tape over the stamps. You must apply by Tuesday, October 14, 2008.
